The Drifter design follows a similar silhouette to our Lincoln Waistcoat and features vintage-style branded buttons, 5 pockets, including a secret pocket in the chest with a more rounded hemline.
The Drifter optimises a life of unknowns, an individual who searches for the path less travelled. In our recent addition to the Drifter Range, we have taken inspiration from these characteristics to produce a waistcoat that epitomises the worldly traveller. Faded from the sun, worn down in places and full of character. A waistcoat that holds onto a thousand stories ready to be told.
We have crafted our latest addition to the Drifter range from a wool blend, which is super soft and warm for the cooler months. The wool has been brushed to enhance the natural textures and patterns this fabric creates.
We have contrasted this mid-grey with natural wooden buttons and lined with a grey cotton.
I have never found a waistcoat like this - it's unique, stylish and timeless.
From Edward VII to the modern-day Pioneer
Origins
Manual for Life The term ‘waistcoat’ is derived from the cutting of the cloth used to make them, as prior to their invention British tailors would cut the cloth for a coat much longer than that of a waistcoat. Over the years they have been in and out of fashion but we belive they are an essential in any Pioneers wardrobe. With a few rules of course. We support pioneers and those willing to break the norm, so our rules are as as simple guide. Style your waistcoat however you like, it’s the perfect layered companion.
Keep it fitted A baggy waistcoat is never a good look, so buy the right size and cinch in if it isn’t quite right.
Be seen and not heard Stick to neutral colours - A waistcoat should be seen and not heard… don’t go loud and keep things neutral and understated.
Undo the bottom button This stems from a story that Edward VII would unfasten the bottom button as he put on weight and his court followed suit.
Be versatile Not just for wedding days - The modern waistcoat can be warn in many different ways to either dress up or dress down.
Style Tip: Keep your waistcoat fitted, muted and always undo the bottom button. We would hate to upset the king.
